Stirling Prize: Here are the UK's best new buildings

Four London buildings are in the annual architecture prize shortlist

Here are the buildings battling it out to be crowned best building of the year and winner of the 2015 Riba Stirling Prize.

There are six contenders, and of those six, four are in London.

Let’s take a goosey:

The impressive clean cut, mature design at the south London school has reportedly inspired improved performance at the school, and inspired students’ own artwork.

The Whitworth already holds the crown for 2015 museum of the year, can it do the double?

Greenwich isn’t just the old Naval College. Check out this archictural gem. Guess what it houses - yep, the architecture department. Nice.

Ah, hello again Lord Rogers. Architecture’s most famous name is no stranger to the Stirling Prize, with two previous awards under his money-belt. Can he get a hat-trick with this luxury development near Tate Modern?

5. Darbishire Place, Whitechapel

This elegant social project is on the Peabody estate in what used to be a bombsite. It’s made out of bricks - remember bricks? And features large balconies with big windows to let natural light into the 13 flats it houses.

6. Maggie’s Centre, Lanarkshire
