Two punchy stats that prove Top Gear is going in reverse gear

Top Gear? Flop Gear more like…

Top Gear presenters failed to enthral audiences as view numbers fell for its second episode.

The BBC show, launched after Jeremy Clarkson was sacked following a brawl with producers, kicked off its new season with Friends star Matt Le Blanc last week.

Take a look at these stats:

1. The first episode drew 4.3 million viewers whereas the last episode of Clarkson’s show in 2015 brought in 5.8 million viewers.

2. Sunday’s episode attracted just 2.8 million viewers on Sunday night, a 14 per cent share of the audience, losing more than a third, though peaked at 3.3 million (a 15.8 per cent share).
