In pictures: Selfridges Christmas Windows

The iconic windows of Selfridges hardly need any introduction, having risen in the public consciousness to practically become a draw in their own right. But at Christmas, when London is heaving with tourists and their gravid wallets, the Selfridges window team have to pull out all the stops.

This year, the theme for the windows is “The Wish List”, with each window housing oversized versions of over a dozen of the most universally sought after Christmas presents on people’s wish lists.

They include a sweatshirt made by Kenzo, the Mixr headphones by Beats by Dre, and even the old children’s classic, Play-Doh for kids, which is apparently becoming a hit with adults in need of stress relief.

In addition, and perhaps it’s something to do with the current state of the housing market in London, gingerbread houses are also apparently on the ultimate Christmas wish list this year. One window features a gingerbread reproduction of London, called Lost London, and was designed in collaboration with “food architects” Bompas & Parr, Biscuiteers and Tate Lyle. Tasty.
