Early arrival for woman who gives birth in Heathrow lavatory

A London woman took home more than just her baggage after going into labour in a lavatory at Heathrow Airport.

Regina Hamisi gave birth to a baby girl minutes after she disembarked a flight from Kenya.

There was no time to rush her to hospital as airport staff only had minutes to get her into a toilet cubicle before the unscheduled arrival.

The 33 year-old from Barking had returned from Kenya on New Year’s Day after a family emergency had forced her to travel. However, her baby was not due until 4 January.

Hamisi, who has two other children gave birth to a healthy 6lbs 4oz as-yet unnamed baby girl. She said: “All that I remember after getting off the plane is a medic and being in the toilet. I delivered my baby right there on the bathroom floor.”
