Goedhuis & Co announce "outstanding" wines for summer fundraiser at Saatchi Gallery

In its third year, tickets for the glamorous Goedhuis & Co Summer Rosé Tasting in aid of Starlight event are selling fast

The prestigious wine merchants Goedhuis & Co has teamed up with Savills and Weatherbys Private Banking to host a “dazzling” Rosé wine tasting fundraiser at the Saatchi Gallery on 26 June.

Now in its third year, Goedhuis & Co hope the tasting will raise £60,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation which grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals. Supporters of Starlight include Poppy Delevingne, Sienna Miller and Bill Nighy.

Co-founder and chairman of Goedhuis & Co, Johnny Goedhuis, said the event might not quite compete with Ascot and Henley but “in three short years has become a fixture in the summer calendar.”

Added Goedhuis: “It’s a great social event, a great charity event and a great chance to taste some wonderful rosés from the least expensive to the truly great wines of Ch d’Esclans and Domaines Ott.”

This year’s will see eight “outstanding” producers from across France, as well as one from England participating in the event says Goedhuis & Co.

Highlights to taste include Domaine Bernard Reverdy, whose Sancerre Rosé 2010 was recently awarded a “coup de coeur” in France’s leading wine guide, the Guide Hachette 2012, plus an “exciting” new addition, Nyetimber Rosé 2008.

A spokesperson for Goedhuis & Co said the merchant would be “pulling out all the stops to provide a veritable feast of food matched to the wines, including quintessential ingredients for an English summer night – strawberries and cupcakes.”

While enjoying the food and drink on offer, guests will also have the opportunity to view “Out of Focus: Photography” – an exhibition running from 25 April to 22 July 2012, presenting 38 artists who offer an international perspective on current trends in photography.

Upstairs, guests will be invited to view “Ink”, an exhibition featuring the finest examples of contemporary Chinese Ink art, curated by Asian Art dealer and Johnny Goedhuis’ brother, Michael Goedhuis. Ink runs from 19 June to 5 July 2012.
