Covent Garden building appears to be floating in mid-air – how did they do it?

A new work of art has appeared in Covent Garden – a building floating in mid-air.

The stunning piece was created by artist Alex Chinneck out of polystyrene with a steel frame and a heavy counterweight to keep the top section upright.

Named “Take my Lightning but don’t steal my thunder”, the installation took three months to make and 500 hours to paint. It was installed in Covent Garden over four days and will be there until 24 October.
