You’re fired – and sued! Lord Sugar sues his own lawyers for £1.3m

Lord Sugar’s property company has filed a claim at the high court against solicitors which says it botched a property deal.

Amsprop is accusing Kingsley Napley of mishandling redevelopment plans on its New Bond Street site, causing Sugar’s company to pay out nearly £1m to a high-end jewellery company.

Amsprop planned to join 10 and 10A New Bond Street to make a bigger retail site, however it was forced to pay out £970,500 to jeweller Longmire, which occupied 10 New Bond Street, to give up its right to a new lease.

Amsprop’s £1.3m claim says: “As a consequence of the defendant’s negligence and breaches of duty, Amsprop has suffered loss and damage.”

Kingsley Napley told the media: “We are disappointed this case is being progressed. We deny the claim and will vigorously contest it.”
