Now Taiwan could ban Uber - here's why

Taiwan has become the latest city to take issue with taxi app Uber.

The country’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications has threatened to ban Uber for operating without a licence.

The taxi app has been issued with over T$3m (£60,823) in fines already.

Taiwan is among a host of other places including Spain, Delhi and Thailand which have clamped down on Uber.

The controversial taxi app, which operates in 200 cities across 53 countries, got a rumoured $600m investment from China’s Google, Baidu, last week.

Earlier this month, the app was valued at over $40bn after raising $1.2bn in a Series E round with investors including the Qatar Investment Authority.
