London mobile phone network set for £150m boost from Vodafone

Londoners, sick of your phone calls dropping out at the crucial moment? Well, the situation could be about to improve, as Vodafone has announced it is to spend £150m on improving its London network.

The plans aim to reduce dropped calls and double the network’s 3G capacity.

The company is also set to announce details of its so-called Project Metropolis, a plan to increase the number of masts by 30% and extend the network’s 4G coverage.

The investment will come as part of Vodafone’s £6bn Project Spring investment in its European networks, which is to be funded with proceeds from Vodafone’s £84bn sale of its stake in Verizon Wireless in September.
