How did Apple’s Steve Jobs respond when he got a Google employee sacked?

It seems Apple and Google have a cosier relationship than we might have thought going by this email exchange.

A Google recruiter had apparently attempted to poach one of Apple’s employees, in violation of an alleged agreement between the two tech giants not to hire each other’s staff.

According to these emails from 2007, Apple founder Steve Jobs was furious after discovering the indiscretion and, in the exchange, Google boss Eric Schmidt apologises.

Also included in the email is the Google recruiting official response, which is that the employee “will be terminated within the hour”.

The reply from Jobs is simply “:)”.

Brutal? Chilling? Or just friendly?

Who knows.
