Asda accidentally charged someone £450 for bread... and he didn’t notice

Asda has apologised after charging a customer £450 for a loaf of bread through a self-service till.

It took warehouse worker John Brown three days to notice the mistake, after initially paying for two loaves of bread, a pot of jam and a carton of eggs.

Luckily, he kept the receipt and has now been reimbursed.

A spokeswoman for Asda told the media: “A system glitch meant that the bread scanned at the wrong price.

“It goes without saying that we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused to Brown.

“We hope this won’t put Mr Brown off visiting our store in the future. We have offered a full refund and a gesture of goodwill to treat himself on his next visit.”
