Sir Elton John: I am NOT joining UKIP

Sir Elton John has dashed Nigel Farage’s hopes of the legendary musician joining UKIP.

Farage fuelled rumours of Sir Elton’s interest in joining the party after he wined and dined at the singer’s home. He said the two “got on very well”.

In a radio interview, Farage said: “Maybe I’ve got a big announcement to make … You never know.”

Sir Elton’s spokesperson put all rumours to rest saying the singer would be making “no announcement at all.”

“[Sir Elton] is a supporter of no party,” the spokesman, Gary Farrow, said.

The spokesperson went on to clarify that Farage was a guest of Lord Black of Crossharbour, the former media mogul who served three years in a US jail for fraud.

Speaking about the dinner, Farage said: “It was a private dinner but, yeah, we talked about politics and current affairs and these things. I got on very well with Elton John indeed.”

He added: “He really truly understands — as a guy that comes from an ordinary background — that the gap between rich and poor is getting wider and wider and that lots of working-class lads are not being given the chance these days to achieve their best.”
