Is Nigel Farage about to quit UKIP (again)?

According to one party donor, he could be

Nigel Farage could quit as UKIP leader to focus on the Brexit campaign, a big UKIP donor has said.

Arron Banks, the founder of the Leave.EU campaign, said he would fully support Farage as leader of the “out” movement if he decided to quit UKIP.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: “The referendum is bigger than any party. It is the biggest event, it means more.

“He has fought 20 years for the referendum. If he decides to step down I would definitely be supportive. He’s the biggest beast in the jungle on this front.

“To make it non-political would be wonderful. But that is a decision for him. If that’s the way, you decide to go that would be great.

“The British press have not clocked on yet to how big an event this is going to be. It is going to be massive. We are getting international interest now.”

  • You have done such a good job on bringing about the referendum, you should now concentrate on becoming PM.

Considering that UKIP has essentially been a single issue anti-Europe party which only managed to get a couple of MPs at the general election, calling it political is overly generous. Nigel Farage joining Brexit is essentially restarting the UKIP single issue bandwagon under a different name.
