How many people trust George Osborne to run the economy? Turns out very few

Bad news for the chancellor on Budget day

A whopping 61% of the general public said they don’t trust George Osborne with the economy.

According to an online poll of 1,000 people by uSurv, most people were either slightly distrustful (22%) or didn’t trust the chancellor at all (37%).

Only 12% of voters said they trusted him a great deal, according to Monday’s survey.

More women than men didn’t trust Osborne and people aged 60 and over were more likely to trust him, with 49% saying they did.

Osborne has promised “no giveaways, no gimmicks” ahead of today’s Budget, which is being announced just 50 days before the general election.
