These are the first pictures of the new driverless Tube trains coming to London

A £2.5bn upgrade of some of London’s Tube lines will feature driverless trains.

The Piccadilly, Central, Waterloo & City and Bakerloo lines will all be upgraded in the mid-2020s.

Initially the new trains will be driven but will have the capacity to be unmanned.

Here are the mock-ups from transport design company Preistmangoode.

  • I may be wrong, but I thought Victoria Line trains now were not driven, so much as just have someone who sits in the driver's cabin while operation is automated.

Oh and these new trains need magazine racks so free papers can be re-used without clutter,

  • Could they have made the front of these driverless trains look any more sinister?
