Rail strikes on the way starting next week

More train problems on the way

Southern Rail workers have announced a five-day strike starting Sunday 12 July.

The RMT union said members voted 9-1 to strike after a “comprehensive breakdown” in industrial relations between unions and transport bosses.

You might remember our story from last month, where London Underground drivers voted for a strike action amid a pay row, and now it seems RMT members will be joining this too. The 24-hour strike will happen on Wednesday 8 July, with striking workers from Southern Rail also joined by First Great Western RMT members, in a separate strike over job losses.

We’ll bring you more on the discussions when we get it.
