Bad news for anyone who uses Caledonian Road Tube station

Busy station needs upgrades

Caledonian Road Tube station will be closed for a whopping eight months while upgrades are being done.

The 30-year-old lifts in the busy zone 2 station need to be replaced, meaning it will be closed from 4 January to mid-August.

Gareth Powell, director of strategy for London Underground, said: “We’re sorry for the disruption that this work will cause customers.

“Customer safety is our number one priority, which means we have to close the station to replace the lifts in the safest way. This decision has not been taken lightly and we will work really hard to complete this vital work as quickly as possible.

“When the works are complete everyone will benefit from a new, more reliable service.”

  • Looks like someone at TfL has just been trained by the Highway agency. The number one rule is inconvenience the public as much as possible and blame it on health and safety!
