Uber files appeal against Transport for London’s decision not to renew operator’s licence

Here’s what happened

Just hours before Uber’s deadline that would have seen all drivers barred from working, Uber has launched an appeal at Westminster magistrate’s court Friday morning.

Last month, 22 September, Transport for London (TfL) said in a ruling that Uber is “not fit and proper” to be allowed to have their licence renewed.

A spokesperson for the Tech company said: While we have today filed our appeal so that Londoners can continue using our app, we hope to continue having constructive discussions with Transport for London.

“As our new CEO has said, we are determined to make things right.”

Last month Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s new CEO said to Londoners: “We will appeal the decision on behalf of millions of Londoners, but we do so with the knowledge that we must also change.”
