Storm Gertrude set to strike London

Are we set for a blustery battering? Here’s the low down

Windy London

Absolute worst case scenario

London will get all blowy as wind from Storm Gertrude flies through town. The blustery conditions will likely be accompanied by some rain.

Elsewhere, Gertrude is wreaking genuine discomfort and disorder on the British Isles.

In Scotland heavy rain and winds have already disrupted road, rail and ferry travel and thousands of homes were without power after power lines were cut.

At the top of a mountain in the Cairngorms, a particularly blustery bluster of wind was recorded speeding along at an impressive 132mph.

Londoners can expect wind, the possibility of heavy rain, and temperatures as low as 3C, according to the Met Office.
