Heatwave predicted: British newspapers react in style

A rite of passage for any newspaper journalist is nailing the “hot weather” story. The “phwoar, what a scorcher!” tests a hack’s creativity and ingenuity – because essentially, it’s a weather forecast. Every synonym for “hot” is dragged kicking and screaming out of the thesaurus and punched repeatedly into Microsoft Word, until the story starts to look interesting.

At LondonlovesBusiness.com we admire the hard work of the newspaper journalists who, against all odds, manage to get 1,000 words out of the story “it’s going to be hot”.

Here’s our pick of today’s weather headlines:

  • Thanks for your comment Kate. Shame about the weather in Leeds but hopefully you'll get your fair share of it another time. There's nothing more beautiful than the Yorkshire Dales in the sunshine!
