In the late 90s, as memories of the recession started to fade and D:Ream’s Things Can Only Get Better became New Labour’s anthem, London was once again where the global fashion scene was fixated. Those of us who wore platform shoes will probably remember it was all thanks to Clapham resident Vivienne Westwood, Britpop and the Spice Girls.

The resurgence of British pride which came around this time was due to strong uninterrupted British growth, and saw the Union Flag on everything including Noel Gallagher’s guitar and Geri Halliwell’s dress (above).
