Swathes of London’s workforce unsure of flexible working plans

The Games are fast approaching with a mere 39 days until the start and yet a study has found that a whopping 80 per cent of workers are in the dark about remote working plans.

The study by Imation Corp found that just over a third (35 per cent) of workers in the capital have corporate guidelines on secure remote working which they follow. Almost the same amount again (36 per cent) feel they do not have the appropriate technology to ensure the same level of internet security when working remotely.

“This survey clearly shows that guidelines, communication and technology provision around secure remote working currently fall well short of the mark,” comments Nick Banks, head of EMEA and APAC, Imation Mobile Security.

“With major events this summer set to trigger a significant rise in remote and mobile working, many employees remain unclear and unconfident about how they should work remotely to ensure the security of corporate data and assets.

“Even when guidelines are issued, around a third of employees choose to ignore them, which only serves to emphasise how imperative it is for IT departments and senior management to take this situation in hand by combining suitable technologies and centralised control with increased end-user education.”
