This is Barclays’ new CEO

Here is the man who might replace Antony Jenkins

It hasn’t officially been announced yet, but Barclays is set to appoint James “Jes” Staley as its new CEO.

The banker has been working at JP Morgan and most recently BlueMountain Capital Management in the US.

If appointed, he will replace Antony Jenkins who was fired in July after the Barclays board said the bank wasn’t making enough profit under his leadership.

Staley’s appointment has been agreed by the board and all that’s left is to get regulatory clearance.

The bank’s renewed push on commercial banking is likely to be what’s behind the appointment, as Staley was CEO of investment banking and asset management at JP Morgan.
