Total Politics magazine publisher acquires leading Scottish publisher

In a major move for UK political publishing, Biteback Media has acquired Scottish publishing and events company Holyrood Communications.

Biteback Media started in 2008 with the launch of Total Politics magazine and swiftly went on to become the UK’s leading political book publisher.

The London-based firm grew further with the acquisition of Parliamentary Brief magazine and across into America when it acquired Political World Communications.

Holyrood Communications is Scotland’s leading political publisher, behind titles like Holyrood magazine, and runs over 40 public policy conferences per year.

Biteback Media chief executive Shane Greer said:

“This acquisition adds substantially to the breadth and depth of service that Biteback Group offers to clients.

“The past four years have been a story of growth for Biteback and I couldn’t be more excited by this latest chapter.”

Outgoing owner and publisher Hamish Miller has agreed to continue managing day-to-day operations in a transition period to March 2013, during which time a new publisher will be announced.

“I’m proud of the company we’re built and I know that the Biteback Media group will take Holyrood Communications to new heights in Scotland.

“Holyrood is in great hands going forward,” Miller said.
