Today is Fat Cat Tuesday – top City bosses have this year already earned your ENTIRE ANNUAL SALARY

Here’s all you need to know

Okay, we already know they get paid a lot of money, but hearing that top bosses in the City have this year already earned the equivalent of the average annual UK salary is too much for our delicate January emotions.

By late this afternoon, the pay of FTSE 100 CEOs will have already eclipsed what most people will earn in a year, according to the report by the High Pay Centre.

Even assuming they work long hours with few holidays, City bosses earn approximately £1,200 an hour, adding up to a grand total of £4.96m a year in 2014.

High Pay Centre director Stefan Stern said: “Fat Cat Tuesday again highlights the continuing problem of the unfair pay gap in the UK.

“We are not all in this together, it seems. Over-payment at the top is fuelling distrust of business, at a time when business needs to demonstrate that it is part of the solution to harsh times and squeezed incomes, and is promoting a recovery in which all employees can benefit.”

  • Wouldn't mind people getting very high salaries if they were really competent and brought that worth to the company - But most (all?) aren't and the same results could be achieved by someone earning a fraction of the amount!

Perhaps a guide to what's fair is the salary of the Prime Minister?

Your earnings are determined by how many people you can get to work/slave for you.

Most people only have a few like the wife/shopkeeper and themselves.

José Mourinho earnings/(not bank balance) dropped to zero when his players did not want to work/play for him anymore.
