Thousands of London homes faced blackouts last night

Thousands of south Londoners were left in the dark last night, thanks to a fault at an electricity substation.

The Standard reports that train passengers too faced long delays because of the blackout.

National Grid and Southeastern Railway apologised to customers and power was restored only by 1am.
