These 10 jobs have the worst gender pay gaps

Women expect to be paid 20% less than men on average, with the pay gap widening to 29% in some industries.

Research by jobs site reed.co.uk has found that not only do women expect to be paid less than men, men’s expected salaries have risen since last year, while women’s have fallen.

Lynn Cahillane from reed.co.uk’s said: “Our latest research shows a major difference in the pay expectations of men and women, with men demanding, on average, £3,905 more than women – a gap of 20%.

“The figures also reveal a stark contrast of what UK men and women expect to get paid and what’s actually on offer.

These 10 jobs have the worst gender pay gaps:

  2. Banking £25,377/ £20,800 22%
  3. Energy £27,452/ £22,674 21%
  4. Purchasing £29,555/£24,796 19%
  5. Sales £23,562/ £19,898 18%
  6. Education £21,216/£17,922 18%
  7. Hospitality/catering £18,497 / £15,665 18%
  8. Motoring £19,920/ £17,487 14%
  9. Retail £16,851/ £14,951 13%
  10. Fast-moving consumer goods £26,948/ £24,125 12%
