The 10 richest billionaires in the entire world ranked

But who is at number one?

The number one richest billionaire in the world is Bill Gates, according to the 2016 rankings from Forbes.

Gates has amassed a wealth of $75bn, but is $4.2bn poorer than last year. Over the last 22 years, Gates has topped the list 17 times and has been number one solidly for the last three years.

The only European on the list is Spain’s Amancio Ortega, who moves up to second place for the first time, with a wealth of $67bn.

Meanwhile, Carlos Slim from Mexico, the only other non-US billionaire on the list, slides down to fourth place from second last year.

Warren Buffett holds steady in third place with $61bn.

The best performer is also the youngest – Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is just 31 years old. He climbed 10 places this year, from 16 to 6, after adding $11.2bn to his fortune.

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is also a newcomer to the top 10 with $45.2bn, beating Zuckerberg’s $44.6bn.
