Surprise! Google has been renamed Alphabet. No, seriously

Company undergoes huge restructuring

Did we ever honestly think we’d outlive tech giant Google? It seems we have – because the company isn’t called Google anymore.

Google has revealed it has changed its name to Alphabet in a shock restructuring, which will see only the search engine arm of the company retaining the “Google” name and branding.

You can find Alphabet at the unconventional https://abc.xyz/.

Alphabet is a collection of companies including Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, Android and what bosses are calling a “slimmed down” Google, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Google Inc is being replaced by Alphabet Inc and shares will automatically convert with the same rights. Shares rose 5% after the announcement.

Alphabet will continue to be run by Google’s founders Sergey Brin as president and Larry Page as CEO.

So, in fact, Google HASN'T been renamed Alphabet. The search giant, which is what 99% of the world knows it for, will still be called Google. This is click bait of the worst kind.
