Pearson in “advanced” talks to flog Financial Times to a global digital news company

The newspaper could be sold imminently

The owner of the Financial Times is in “advanced discussions” with a global digital news company to sell the newspaper.

Pearson, which owns the FT, is moving away from media and focusing more on educational publishing, according to a Reuters report.

“Pearson notes recent press speculation and confirms that it is in advanced discussions regarding the potential disposal of FT Group although there is no certainty that the discussions will lead to a transaction.

“A further announcement will be made if and when appropriate,” a statement said.
