MUST WATCH: Student of the Year Awards winners pick up their trophies in glittering ceremony

Casis Media’s first annual Student of the Year Awards was a major success

Casis Media launched its first annual Student of the Year Awards ceremony in style last week.

After receiving hundreds of applications from students across the UK, the awards celebrated the achievements of 12 outstanding teenagers.

The awards ceremony was hosted by John Humphrys, and saw top speakers including Kate Robertson, the chair of judges and co-founder of One Young World, and the awards co-founder and Apprentice winner, Tim Campbell MBE, addressing students.

In the week since the first Student of the Year Awards, the response has been fantastic with numerous requests for interviews with student winners from regional press around the UK.

Winner of the Business and Society Award, Edward Parker Humphreys, from St Olave’s School in Kent, was interviewed live on the Evening Standard’s TV channel, ‘London Live’, straight after the awards ceremony.

Sarah Jackson, of Cheadle Hulme School, who won the Sports/Physical Education Award, said to LondonLovesBusiness: “It’s just fantastic to be recognised. I come from a sport – windsurfing – that’s not very big, so it’s actually really nice to get some big recognition for once.”

Fraser Macdonald-Lister, of Skinners’ School, who won the Leadership Award, said: “Coming here I certainly didn’t think I was going to be one of the guys who won. I’m really humbled to be honest.”

Sponsors from 2015 are already keen to renew their support for 2016 onwards.

Huge thanks again to the inaugural sponsors, The Royal Bank of Scotland, AWEMarmaladeCapgemini and Grange Hotels.

Next year’s awards will be launched in January 2016. This year’s Chair of Judges, Kate Robertson, co-Founder of One Young World, has already agreed to be Chair again.
