British Gas just lost a lot of customers

Its owner Centrica cuts jobs too

British Gas lost 224,000 residential customers in the first three months of this year.

Customers switched to other providers, meaning the firm lost 1.5% of domestic customers.

British Gas is still the biggest energy supplier in the UK and now has 14.4 million customers.

The company plans to cut 3,000 jobs this year and has already axed 800 roles.

This is part of a wider £750m savings plan where 6,000 jobs will go in total over five years.
